How to Properly Use Marker Tabs

For Bibles that don’t feature a thumb index, Reference Tabs make it easy to quickly locate any book in the Bible. We do, however, have one very important suggestion if you’re going to add Reference Tabs to your Bible: don’t use your tabs as grips. Often readers will use these tabs to locate a book of the Bible and then pull on that tab to open the Bible, placing an enormous amount of stress on the area of the page closest to the tab—eventually ending in an unfortunate tear.

Our Recommendation:

Instead, we recommend you use the tabs to find your place, then insert your thumb into the book and gently open the front cover while supporting the back cover with your other hand. Tabs are for navigating, not opening your Bible—remembering this simple tip could save your Bible from 66 unnecessarily damaged pages!

Note: if your Bible’s pages are already damaged from pulling on the tabs, learn how to repair them with acid free tape.
