How to Apply Leather Balm

At Scriptura, we only use full-grain leather to craft our Bible covers. Any authentic leather product, like our own skin, becomes dry when not properly moisturized, resulting in discoloration and cracking. Ingredients in a natural leather balm will rehydrate your Bible’s leather cover, restoring its supple feel and deepening its patina. We recommend the balm produced by our sister company, Embark Premium Goods, because it’s 100% all-natural and a portion from every sale goes to missionaries around the world.

Application:

To apply the balm, take your pointer and middle fingers and gently remove some product with a swiping motion. You can also use a lint-free cloth instead of your fingers. Apply the balm to your cover by pressing it into the leather in a circular motion, starting from the center and moving toward the edges. Don’t be afraid of hurting your leather; it’s durable and not easily damaged. You can re-apply the balm every 4 to 6 months, or anytime it seems to be getting dry or stiff.

Note: applying a balm is only relevant if you own an heirloom-quality, full grain Bible from Scriptura. Other materials used on Bible covers—like TruTone, Top Grain, and even Genuine leather—wear out, not in, so applying a balm will not improve their condition.
